Chronicling The Workers Circle’s History: 1929-1976

The Call flourished during a period of great tumult. Its pages document the story of immigrant adaptation to America, the events that shook the twentieth century, the flowering of Jewish culture, and the impact of social unionism. It captures the activism of and debate within the organization’s membership and opens a window into the rise of labor unions, through the battle for civil rights to the suburbanization of the American Jewish community.

The Call was the official organ of the English-speaking division of the Workmen’s Circle

Through the Call and its earlier iterations, the Workmen’s Circle communicated and welcomed  younger people into its community.
